Kisah Anak Hilang

The tax-collectors and sinners were all coming near to Jesus to hear him, and the Pharisees and scribes were murmuring, saying,” This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

So he spoke to them: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the part of the estate which falls to me.’ So his father divided his living between them. Not many days after, the son realized it all and went away to a far country, and there in wanton recklessness scattered his substance. When he had spent everything a mighty famine arose throughout that country and he began to be in want. He went and attached himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs; and he had a great desire to fill himself with the husks the pigs were eating; and no one gave anything to him. When he had come to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, and I—I am perishing here with hunger. I will get up and I will go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer fit to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’ So he got up and went to his father. While he was still a long way away his father saw him, and was moved to the depths of his being and ran and flung his arms round his neck and kissed him tenderly. The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer fit to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger; put shoes on his feet; and bring the fatted calf and kill it and let us eat and rejoice, for this my son was dead and has come back to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to rejoice.

“Now the elder son was in the field. When he came near the house he heard the sound of music and dancing. He called one of the slaves and asked what these things could mean—He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf because he has got him back safe and sound.’ He was enraged and refused to come in. His father went out and urged him to come in. He answered his father, ‘Look you, I have served you so many years and I never transgressed your order, and to me you never gave a kid that I might have a good time with my friends. But when this son of yours—this fellow who consumed your living with harlots—came, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ ‘Child,’ he said to him, ‘you are always with me. Everything that is mine is yours. But we had to rejoice and be glad, for your brother was dead and has come back to life again; he was lost and has been found.’” (Lukas 15: 1-3, 11-32).

Saudara dan saudari, menarik sekali membaca perumpamaan ini. Sungguh indah dilukiskan dan sungguh menggugah alur ceritanya. Saya secara pribadi sangat suka dengan perumpamaan ini. Perumpamaan ini berbicara benyak tentang manusia dan tentang Allah yang sungguh murah hati.

Kalau kita amati bacaan Injil ini dengan teliti dan hati-hati, sebenarnya permintaan anak tersebut untuk mendapat bagian warisannya lebih dahulu dan ingin pergi ke negeri yang jauh, jauh lebih radikal dan lebih menyedihkan dibanding sebatas meminta warisan dan pergi. Mungkin kita sering mendengar tafsiran yang mengatakan bacaan ini hendak mengatakan kisah hidup “orang-orang” yang tersesat karena sex bebas atau karena drugs atau karena alcohol atau karena judi atau hal-hal negative lainnya, mungkin saja, tetapi saya kira ada yang lebih dalam dan lebih parah dari sekedar tersesat ke hal-hal yang disebut sebelumnya.

Saya hendak memberi nuansa baru pada perumpamaan ini. Anak yang hilang tersebut bisa kita lukiskan sebagai personifikasi dari manusia (entah siapa pun dia) yang setelah menerima “warisan” dari Allah – berupa akal budi, kesehatan, harta jasmani dan rohani, dll – kemudian berkata kepada kepada Allah: “Allah, saya tak ingin berurusan lagi dengan-Mu. I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore.” Kemudian kita pergi menjauh dari Allah dan kemudian tak mau tahu akan Allah. Banyak orang yang berpikir dan bertindak seakan-akan Allah tak ada, dan kalaupun ada, Allah itu remotely exist.

Atau kalau kita mau lebih sederhanakan, kita bisa bandingkan dengan kejadian di beberapa keluarga. Setelah anak-anak menerima warisan dan kebaikan dari orang tua, mereka berkata: “Mum (Dad), I don’t have anything to do with you anymore. I’m gonna go and live my life as you didn’t exist or remotely exist. Look after yourself and do not disturb me.”

Saudara dan saudari, kisah ini juga bisa kita lihat sebagai penolakan akan “rumah” di mana anak tersebut dilahirkan dan dibesarkan. Dia pergi ke negeri yang jauh. Kisah ini bukan sekedar ingin pergi jauh dari “rumah” tetapi ingin memutuskan hubungan dengan “rumah” – dengan cara pikir dan cara berada serta cara berbudaya yang selama ini dididik di “rumah” oleh orang tua. Ini bukan sekedar tidak ada rasa hormat, tetapi merupakan penghianatan akan nilai-nilai yang dijunjung tinggi oleh keluarga dan komunitas.

Saudara dan saudari, setelah anak itu kehabisan “uang” dan tak sanggup lagi menopang hidup, “Lalu ia menyadari keadaannya, katanya: “Betapa banyaknya orang upahan bapaku yang berlimpah-limpah …” Dengan ungkapan singkat ini, Yesus hendak mengatakan bahwa selama kita jauh dari “rumah” (jauh dari Allah) – kita tidak mengenal diri. Kita hanya sungguh menjadi diri kita kalau kita dalam komunitas “rumah” bersama Allah.

Saudara dan saudari, kita menjadi sungguh-sungguh berbahagia kalau kita mengenal Allah dan kembali kepada Allah. Dan Allah begitu bahagia kalau kita kembali ke “rumah” – kembali ke pangkuan kasih Allah, kembali mengalami cinta dan kasihnya.
